Explain to him that his behavior is unacceptable. You should not have to

Run a bath for him, even bathe together.

He is from the old school where water was a treat and not

something you'd stand in for 30+ minutes a day. How about communication?

Why not talk to him and find out his reasons for not bathing or showering.

Best way is to catch him right after a shower & cuddle up close
meow
& comment on how you really like to be close to him when he smells so good

right after a shower. Try to avoid nagging or saying negative things. If

he ever works hard on a project you might get away with saying ''It is so

great that you got so much done on that project, I really feel good about

that. Would you feel better if you had a nice hot shower to freshen up
while I make dinner?'' Now you might get away with that, but even that he
might manage to see as criticism. (You know how to get a mule to go
forward-- get in front & push) seriously-- good luck. Life is supposed
to be fun, but there sure are a lot of rocks in the road.
